These two ~ Graysen and Evie.
They share a special bond.
You wouldnt know it to look at them....what it is that they have in common.
If you didnt know any better, you'd think they fit the atypical recipe for a toddler...
A generous sprinkle of strong will
Two heaping scoops of cuddles
A pinch of defiance
A dash of mischief
And pure unadulterated adorableness!
They are posessive of their toys, but share so much.....
They share a surgeon.
They share the same heart defect.
Their birthdays are just a week apart.
They were "roomates" in PCICU
They share the same beautiful silver scar.
And last but not least, they share a passion for cupcakes!
Our dear friends from out of town came to spend the day picnicking and swimming with us.
Laura and I sat amazed as we watched our little heart warriors loving life. Nothing slowing them down. We talked about weighty issues. Shared our own "heartaches" and anxieties and reminisced about our experience meeting in the corridors of MUSC as our babies battled for their lives.
Im reminded again of the gift God's given in other families walking this road. Some conversations just cant be broached with even the best of friends. Some emotions only another heart mom can relate to. The kiss of sun....the sight of our little miracles playing together....the conversations with Laura....all were therapy to my soul! So thankful for such special friendships!
If I may paraphrase for Evie..."Back off girls...this heartthrob is taken!"
And this might be my favorite picture from the day. Notice the two insanely out-of-control girls creating a title wave in a 4 ft. pool? Those are my daughters!
Poor Caleb and Graysen are huddled in the corner holding a cell phone. Probably calling their mom to come rescue them from this play date.
Or possibly dialing 911!

Thank you for this beautiful posting. I will always cherish it. You have a wonderful and precious family. It would be such an honor to meet you and hope we can arrange a visit sometime when I am in South Carolina. Once again, a very heartfelt thank you. Deborah Meyer - Graysen's Grandmother
