Her Sweet Heart

I always exhale a huge sigh of relief when we walk out of Evie's 6 month follow up visits with Cardiology.
Standing triumphantly in front of her hospital!

We've just returned from two days of doctor visits with her wonderful physicians in Charleston. This is the first time Ive done one of these big visits solo (without C) and I had a huge knot in my stomach leading up to her appointment. It doesn't matter how many times I watch the ultrasound technicians scrolling the probe over her heart, I still get a sinking feeling!
The report couldn't have been better. ECHO show that her dilating aortic root which has been of concern, has not grown any since her last visit - praise the Lord! It is something they will keep a close eye on for the rest of her life, but its a huge relief to know its not aggressively dilating!
A big milestone this visit was that it marked the first time we've been able to do an ECHO without sedation. She's always been absolutely terrified of anyone in scrubs and sedation has been the only way to get her still enough for a good look at her heart. I thought she was ready this time, and she handled it like a pro.
She milked it for all it was worth.....watched cartoons, asked for a lollipop, and came home with a pocket full of Dora stickers.
Yay Evie!!
Her GI visit wasnt quite as smooth. Weaning her off her reflux meds has not gone well. She's begun waking every night crying in pain again, so he's put her back on her drugs....booooo! Lower GI problems continue too. We are now starting a 3 day complete colon cleanse. Yes, its as unpleasant as it sounds! No better time than now to bump up the potty-training campaign!!
Sweet big sister Abi was my helper and accompanied me to all Evie's appointments and talked her through her procedures! The girls had fun sister time in the hotel pool and eating Oreos in the king-sized bed! Trying to make lemonade out of the lemons and sweet memories from experiences we'd rather not have.

I'm so glad Evie's heart looked good! I know that was music to your ears!! We'll be praying for those GI issues...and the colon cleanse. That one sure doesn't sound like fun!

Wow, I know you always think Emie looks older than Evie but I always think the opposite. What a big girl she seems to be! :-) How awesome that Abi was a great big sis during your visit and I'm so grateful for the good news. Definitely praying that her GI issues will improve!

I'm glad you had a great cardiology visit! What is up with these cardiac kids and their GI issues? Crazy. We finally found a balance for Owen, but it wasn't easy.

Glad things were good for Evie...and how great that Abi got to be with her as support! Good for both! What a pretty picture of Mama with Evie too....gorgeous inside and out!!
Good luck with the colon cleanse...hopefully the potty training will catch on!

So glad Evie had a great cardio check-up!! We are headed to Charleston with Rebekah on Nov. 1 for her next OHS on the 3rd. Sure hope you can get her GI issues resolved soon. Rebekah is still having lower GI issues as well. Guess it's par for the course! :)

Yay Evie! So glad to hear about her ECHO! Lo would milk it too and for all that they have been through, they can get what they want :O). The colon cleanse, however, does NOT sound like fun. You know where I am if you need me! Let me know. Praying for all to go well.
