Gabriella is two weeks old today. I cant even believe that today is technically her "due date" and had we not needed an induction, we probably would still be a few days out from meeting her. She has blended so beautifully into our family and is such an easy baby. God knew exactly what we needed. Dont know how its possible, but we're more in love with her every day!
Beyond grateful for the "reinforcements" that have been here for the last week. My mother and sister Josie have been staying with us and helping out tremendously by taking the morning shift with the early bird risers so I can catch a few more minutes of sleep with Gigi.....lifeguarding...art project supervision....cooking....cleaning....bathing little ones....and even painting a room for me!! Its been so good for the kiddos to have a high energy auntie and a nurturing Grandmoni while Mommy is healing and so focused on caring for the littlest family member.
In addition to books and games and M&M's and bandaids, Grandmoni came packed with a BIRTH-day party for our little one as well!
We're adjusting. I really think the kids have adapted beautifully overall. We've had our moments. Ive spent most mornings running Tristan to his tutor or taking Gigi in for repeat weight checks. As I was leaving the 4th morning in a row, I was kissing the kids goodbye. Evie was long faced and I pulled her up on my lap. She didnt say a word. Didnt protest my leaving. But her bottom lip started to tremble and she burst into tears and sobbed on my shoulder. She couldnt communicate what was wrong....she didnt need to. I know she's having to grow up a lot. Then the next morning I asked Isabelle to say the blessing at breakfast.....
Thank you for this day.
And help Mommy to be able to hold me again someday."
Oh my!! Melt my heart!! You can bet she got some extra snuggle time that day!!
It's going to take some time to find a new "normal" but Im so grateful everything has gone so smoothly thus far!
We're excited that this marks the first week of SUMMER. So proud of Britain, our rising 2nd grader and the twins, headed for 3rd grade in the fall. They all had a great year and worked so hard. But now we're ready for lazy afternoons by the lake, popsicles, critter catching and later bed times.
So blessed to see this crew....Biggest Brother, Bigger Sister, Big Sister, Middle Sister, Littler Sister...enjoying their Baby Sister! Margaret, Thank You!! We LOVE our shirts!:)
